A day in Portofino

It had rained overnight and we left armed with umbrella's, it was still mild and pretty humid. By the end of the day my hair was twice its natural size! A train trip from Mongelia to Santa Margerita then a bus to Portofino. Our connections didn't quite match up so we wandered about Sant Margherita for a while. Very pretty place, the shops were doing a booming trade on a non beach day. The bus trip was packed but there were no unfortunate incidents. Portofino is tiny but beautiful, we had a lovely lunch and walked the 5km back, much better than the bus. If I can work out how to load photos from my iPad I will, Cheers Shell

Technology clearly not my strength

Well for a first post I know it's kind of late but with the wifi hassles and the photo disaster. I won't be able to share photo's until I get my hands on a computer, I really should have upgraded the iPad before I left home. Or perhaps not said I would blog..... We arrived to the airport some of in the safe hands of Marilyn, who while excited for the Turtle family was not looking forward to us going, things might be a bit quiet for her. The kids made them most of the lounge while we waited but it was a shame our plane had been delayed. Comfortable flight to Do Ha, on as Gary insists. On calling them air Qatar, such a dad joke. Landing in Do Ha, the scenery or lack there of, sand Asa far as you could see. The airport is massive, you get of the plane miles away and catch a coach to the terminal. The bus to our connecting flight was hot and stuffy and the baby turtle was not to happy about standing up all the way looked a bit pale, sat her on the floor, someone kindly gave up there seat for her. When we got out though, to add to the drama because we always like drama, baby turtle fainted!!! Ohhh, the drama! She has talked about it once or twice since then, I know who would have thought. Trip to Rome uneventful. Love to hear from you. Shell

It is up up and away

Well, rather than sorting out the mess in the front room that was once "The Shop", I have been busy organising our beach house build and our trip to Europe. I know it is a tough job but I am prepared to put in the hard yards.....

Here is a shot of what I have been avoiding

I know it will wait for me to get back, then watch out Ebay!

Our family of 5 heads off on Monday for nearly 6 weeks, the wardrobe reviews have taken place, essential going away items purchased, hair cut and coloured, nails done and Sunday is packing day.

We land in Rome first and have been checking the weather and we are certainly going to be warmly welcomed, 33 degrees is the current forecast. The Turtle family will be making some freckles that's for sure.

From Rome it's off to Venice which is even hotter! I think we will be gelati experts by the time we leave Italy

Stay tuned

What it was

Well the shop is packed up, it looks kind of sad now. I thought I would show you some pics of what it used to look like.

The relocation sale went well, our lounge room has quite a bit of stock in it but I can at least get in there. Will be hitting Ebay in a big way over the next few weeks.

The kids are fascinated with what it is I am going to do all day now there is no shop. I seem to be managing to fill in my days nicely. High on there agenda is for me to finally use the Sushi maker. Today is the day!

Have a good Wednesday

Just Not Quite

Things just don't turn out the way we planned sometimes. It's not always a bad thing but can just take some time to adjust and reset the compass.

My shop closes on Saturday, a landlord and a tenant not agreeing on the value of a property is not a new story I know, but it wasn't really one I had planned on.

While I have come to terms with the closing of the shop, which is hopefully just for now, it does give you time to reflect and wonder about the "What would I do differently", can I let you know there would be heaps!

I have met some wonderful people along the way who have been so generous with their support, and some who are best not remembered......

Where to from here?

  • A family holiday to Europe
  • Building a new house
  • And the big question, What to DO!
Looking forward to sharing the journey, though I can't really say where to at the moment
